Polo is a sweet, handsome and playful boy. His hobbies include fetching toys and chasing squirrels. His foster mom describes him as an easy-going sweetheart that enjoys being around his people. In fact, Polo LOVES his foster mom and becomes her constant shadow; he follows her around the house.

Polo gets along well with other dogs and is good with meeting new people, although he may be a bit shy at first. He would do well in a home with another mild mannered dog but he'd also be ok being the #1 pup in the house. And cats? If it's a dog savvy cat, it just might work. But no birds. Birds drive him crazy!  While he is used to being in a quiet home, he would likely be fine with bigger calmer kids. Because of his size, a small child could get easily knocked over.

Polo will need some help with getting acclimated to the world around him, particularly outside of the comfort of his yard. He is unsure when in an unfamiliar place and will pull on the leash. His foster mom has been working on his leash walking and he’s doing well overall. This boy can easily clear a 3ft fence when chasing bunnies or squirrels, so a home with a 5ft or higher fence is preferable for him.

Car rides aren’t Polo’s favorite things to do but, once in it, he rides nicely in the back seat. He doesn’t mind being gated off in one room and having a crate available for him. This set up works well for him when left home alone. In fact, Polo will voluntarily go in his crate and sleep there if the door is left open. At night, he follows the pack and prefers sleeping with everyone in the bedroom.
For the most part, he is quiet inside and well-behaved. He knows his name and will come when called (except when there are squirrels or bunnies around), and will give paw, but he will need help with learning some new basic commands.
Consider Polo as the next addition to your family? After all, some good (or great) things actually do come in big packages!
