Cali

Adopted

9 Years

53 lbs
Fenced yard desireable

Just when we thought we couldn’t find a sweeter collie, along comes Cali. This slightly senior (about 9 years old) lady has proven to be a breeze to care for in her foster home. Her foster mom says that she would fit in with just about any type of family. Cali loves meeting new people, including the neighborhood kids who come to pet her. Her foster mom says Cali is a Velcro dog and likes to follow her her around. As far as getting along with other dogs, Cali is great with the resident collies, and when on walks, she gets excited to meet other dogs.

Cali doesn’t mind being crated, but she quickly proved to her foster mom that she was well-behaved, so she has been allowed to roam free in the house and has no issues when unattended. At night she sleeps in her foster mom’s room with the other collies, and her preference is to have the entire human bed to herself. A girl can dream, can’t she?

When it comes to relaxing, Cali learned from the resident dogs that the couch was the place to be. She now takes it a step further by pushing all the pillows off the couch so that she can have as much space as she’d like.

Getting in and out of the car is no problem; Cali jumps right in and is a great passenger. She has been exposed to many sights and sounds (vacuuming, thunderstorms, cars, bikes, strollers, etc.) and she seems to be unbothered. She is good on walks, but likes to explore the world, so there is a lot of stopping to sniff around. She may bark a little when she sees another dog, but that’s just because she wants to meet a new friend. A fenced yard is desirable, but if her new owner is always committed to being outside with her, it may not be necessary.

Cali may need some assistance with commands. She knows “sit,” and she is learning “hush/quiet,” but she may need help with some others.

We have no doubt that Cali will be able to easily fit in with her new family and make herself at home, her only request is that there be a comfy couch with no pillows, or at least a cozy dog bed.
