Meet Dora, a two-year-old sweet and affectionate girl. Dora likes people and all the attention. A little head shy at first, she gets over that pretty quickly, especially when treats are involved. She’s gentle when taking treats and will sit or lie down for you. She has fairly good leash manners but still needs some work.
This sweet girl loves attention. She will put her head on her foster mom’s lap as her way of asking for pets and butt scratches. She is also very social and playful with the resident dogs and even likes the cats. This happy girl would benefit from having another pet (friendly dog or affectionate cat) to play and interact with.
Her foster mom believes she would also be fine with calm and older children, as long as they don’t engage in noisy rough housing with her. Dora likes to jump up on adults when greeting them if they are especially friendly with her, and she might also jump on children. Dora is a sensitive girl. Mild reprimands and gentle training without physical cues would work best with her. Positive training will keep her from shutting down.
Dora likes her crate and voluntarily goes into it both on command and on her own. She enjoys relaxing in the crate and is given all off her meals in it. When she needs to be crated for a period of time, putting a treat in the crate is a great motivator for her.
She can be startled by sudden unexpected noises. Although she recovers quickly, a home with a fenced in yard would be best for her safety. Dora is an affectionate young girl. She needs someone with a gentle hand and a loving heart. Dora is ready to be part of a forever family. If you want to give this girl a chance, complete the adoption application.
