Meet Sylvia
Meet Sylvia, an 8 month-old tricolor Smooth Collie mix puppy who’s one smart cookie! She is quick to pick up new things and has mastered quite a few commands. She is fully house trained and is great at “sit”, “wait”, “come”, “free” and “leave it”. She also understands the command “play toys” to shift from playing with her resident foster friends to playing with toys. Sylvia likes to chew bones and will easily and willingly relinquish them when given the “drop” command when required. Sylvia likes activities that make her think. She is great at various slow feeders and puzzle toys. Sylvia has participated in beginning obedience and received an AKC S.T.A.R puppy certification by passing a test after completing her class. Sylvia is an energetic girl who has been learning her manners and is eager to find a home ready to continue her training to keep her learning the new things she needs to learn.
Sylvia is affectionate and sweet and really enjoys following her people to see what they're doing. She enjoys all kinds of toys, Kongs, bully sticks, balls, and Nylabone chews and can keep herself busy with them but also enjoys going on nice walks and is an excellent loose leash walker. She likes hikes, getting belly rubs and curling up by her people for a nice nap. Sylvia is an active pup who would do best in a home as an only dog as she is dog selective and wants to guard her people from some dogs as her most precious resources.
Sylvia would also benefit from a family who wants to be active with her as she is a dog who wants to work or be busy. She would likely do well in agility classes or other sport classes as she is a fast and intelligent gal. She is in tune with people when doing work, watching them for commands and eager to please. Sylvia plays hard but sleeps hard as well. She’s a pro in her crate and sleeps peacefully through the night. Sylvia likes the car and rides well on short or longer trips.
Sylvia is still a typical puppy: she may bark at new sights and sounds but is highly motivated by food and will work through the new or fearful experience with patience and time with the exposure while receiving treats. Sylvia has a strong herding instinct and is very interested in rabbits and birds, so a securely fenced yard or dog run is a must for this sweet girl. A family committed to training, structure, and exercise will help this clever smoothie mix continue to truly blossom.
