If you are looking for a handsome, laid-back companion who instantly fits into the rhythm of your life, meet Dash! This boy is the definition of "easy-going." Dash is a social boy who absolutely adores human attention. He is equally affectionate with everyone he meets and has a sweet, endearing habit of gently nudging your hand when he is looking for some extra love and head scratches. He will also give collie nibbles!
Dash is a smart and observant dog. He loves being part of a group and spends his time watching the resident collies, mimicking their behavior to learn the household routine and blend right in. He has a nice balance of energy; he can be silly and playful with another dog, but he settles down beautifully the moment it is time to relax inside.
Perfect House Manners (With One Funny Exception)
Dash is a total gentleman indoors. He is fully housebroken and can be completely trusted loose in the home for extended periods or overnight without any confinement. He has never needed a crate because he is so well-behaved, and he respects furniture boundaries—even when invited, he prefers to stay off the couch. When it’s time for bed, he will happily curl up on his own dog bed or on the floor right next to you. Dash is also pretty quiet and rarely barks unless there is a very good reason to speak up.
There is just one little thing his future family will need to watch out for: Dash is a certified counter-surfer! If food is left unattended within his reach, he will absolutely investigate, so you'll want to keep your kitchen counters clear.
Adventure-Ready and Smart
Dash walks well on a leash with no pulling, making daily walks an absolute breeze. He also navigates stairs with total ease. If you love road trips, Dash is the ultimate co-pilot! He genuinely loves car rides, eagerly jumping into the backseat where he will quietly lie down and enjoy the journey. He easily hops out of standard cars on his own, though he might need a gentle lift out of a tall truck.
Dash already knows several commands, including sit, shake, lay down, and coming when called. Because he is so smart and eager to please, continuing his training will be a fun bonding experience.
Dash's Ideal Home
Dash is versatile, but he does have a few preferences for his forever home:
*** Yard: A securely fenced yard is required. While he doesn't jump fences, Dash has a natural inclination to wander off if left unsupervised outdoors and follow joggers or bicycles at times. So safe boundaries are a must.
*** Other Animals: Dash plays very well with other dogs, but he does value his personal space when he is resting. He will give a polite warning snap if another dog crowds him while he is trying to nap. He would thrive as an only dog or with a respectful, well-matched canine sibling. He has not yet been tested around cats.
*** Children: While he hasn't lived with children in his foster home, his gentle and patient disposition suggests he might do wonderfully in a family with calmer older kids.
*** Diet & Care: Dash is an absolute champ with grooming and doesn’t mind being brushed. He is finishing up a course of antibiotics for a minor skin issue, which has made him a bit of a picky eater lately. While plain dry kibble isn't his favorite right now, he will happily clean his bowl if you mix in a little wet canned food!
