Pauly thrives on affection and attention; if you pause while petting him, he'll gently lift his paw to ask for more. He shares affectionate nose boops with his foster mom and always greets you with the warmest welcome when you walk through the door.

Pauly would be happy in a home with other dogs — he loves playing chase and wrestling with his foster brother. He’d also be perfectly content as your one-and-only, soaking up all the attention for himself. While Pauly has been known to chase cats, his foster family believes that with the right introductions and training, he could learn to respect a feline housemate’s space. Ideally, though, a cat-free home would be best. He does well on walks, though he may pull or bark when he spots another dog. His foster family has been working with him on this, and he’s made great progress. Pauly is wonderful with children, but because of his enthusiastic nature, a home with kids aged 8 and up would be ideal. Smart and eager to please, Pauly knows several commands — including *sit*, *shake*, *lie down*, and *touch*. He’s always excited for car rides and up for any adventure, though he can be a little nervous in new places until he gets his bearings. Both the vet and groomer praise Pauly for being so well-behaved during visits — he’s loved everywhere he goes. His ideal forever home would include a fenced yard, but his foster mom believes he could do well without one in the right family. At home, Pauly is completely trustworthy. The only adjustment needed was a lid on the trash can. He has free rein in the house and usually chooses to sleep downstairs by a vent, but on lazy weekend mornings, he’ll come upstairs for belly rubs and snuggles.
